ACCESS TO CLEAN WATER GIVES MOTHERS TIME!
Toronto, ON (February 2017) -In April 2017, Aveda™ celebrates its 11th year of shining a light on the global need for clean water. With this milestone, Aveda's global network has raised over $38 million, with Aveda Canada contributing over $3.5 million via their partnership with WaterAid Canada. Aveda Canada surpassed their 2016 Earth Month goal, raising $548,116. This year, the team sets out to increase the uphill climb with a goal of $595,000, achievable through numerous initiatives for guests to get involved:

Event is open to the public to attend and contribute with a purchase of a ticket!
- One Life book by Ray Civello now available at co/legaearthmonth.com/shop -- a tribute to the women and children who endure the daily burden of collecting water every day. With every purchase of One Life ($40), one person will receive access to clean water for life.
The 2017 Earth Month campaign, 'Access to clean water gives mothers time,' focuses on the courageous women & mothers of Belavabary, Madagascar. Women in Sub-Sahara Africa spend an estimated 40 billion hours per year collecting water. The amount of time spent collecting water takes women away from family and community. Aveda Canada and WaterAid Canada have set out to inspire guests, staff, stylists alike to get involved in support of providing clean & safe water access to mothers, so they have ti me to care for themselves, family, and community.
Last year, Aveda Canada ignited a 3-year commitment to provide 100% access to clean water in two local districts in Madagascar. Numerous key ingredients found in Aveda's products such as ylang ylang, cinnamon & vanilla, and sourced from Madagascar, and the goal is to give back. The 3-year Madagascar Project officially commenced in April 2016 and concludes in March 2019. In November 2015, five members of the Aveda Canada network who raised $7,500+ for Earth Month, traveled to Madagascar with WaterAid to visit local communities pre-intervention. Through the support of Earth Month, WaterAid will work with FIKRIFAMA, a local partner organization in Sabotsy Anjiro and Belavabary districts, Madagascar to: • Provide clean water to roughly 19,000 people • Apply WaterAid's approach of combining water, sanitation and hygiene education • Ensure the construction of drinking water supply systems • Achieve 100% water access in Sabotsy Anjiro and Belavabary (from the current 51 % access in Sabotsy Anjiro and 0% access in Belavabary)
